AIA: Dispensing Systems Puts Company a Chip Above the Rest

To dispense epoxy, Oberthur Card Systems uses equipment from Liquid Control Corp.'s LCL DispensTech Div.

Oberthur Card Systems (Nanterre, France) manufactures smart bank cards. Oberthur manufactures smart cards for Visa, MasterCard, American Express and many others.

Smart cards are embedded with a highly sophisticated microchip. Once the chip has been positioned into the card, a shot of an epoxy resin system is injected to protect the chip and prevent any tampering with the device.

To dispense the epoxy, Oberthur uses equipment from Liquid Control Corp.'s LCL DispensTech Div. (Wellingborough, England). Oberthur has been using LCL DispensTech's 802-20 positive-displacement valve dispensers for 10 years. The dispensers produce reliable and repeatable deposits of epoxy 24 hours a day. The dispensers are being used in 13 machines at five manufacturing sites in the United Kingdom, France and the United States.
