PROVIDENCE, RI—GE Aviation is teaming up with Textron to produce a new turboprop aircraft and engine for the general aviation market, part of an effort GE expects will generate more than $1 billion in annual sales of engines by 2020.
GOOSE CREEK, SC—Impresa Aerospace, a supplier for Boeing and other aircraft OEMs, has opened a new assembly plant here. The company plans to hire 72 people during the next five years.
TORONTO—Bombardier’s business jet assembly plant here uses a state-of-the-art automated positioning system to move the wing structure into place for joining with the fuselage. The system uses laser-guided measuring to ensure components of the aircraft are joined consistently and perfectly each time.

CHICAGO—Boeing will open a plant in China in partnership with state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China. The new factory will focus on painting and assembling twin-engine 737 aircraft manufactured in the US. Chinese firms also agreed to buy 300 Boeing jets, in deals worth about $38 billion.
