DEARBORN, MI—Ford Motor Co. will invest $1.6 billion to build a new assembly plant in Mexico for the manufacture of small vehicles. Work on the facility will start this summer in the state of San Luis Potosi, and the factory will create 2,800 direct jobs.
PALO ALTO, CA—Tesla Motors Inc. has received more than 325,000 reservations for its new Model 3 sedan. The pre-orders represent “about $14 billion in implied future sales, making this the single biggest one-week launch of any product ever,” the company said.

GREENSBURG, IN—Honda Manufacturing of Indiana is investing $52 million and creating 100 jobs at its assembly plant here. The jobs and investment will support the production of the Honda CR-V, which the company announced in January would be moved to Indiana from Mexico.
CHARLOTTE, MI—Spartan Motors will build a new assembly plant at its headquarters here next year—an expansion that’s expected to create an estimated 55 new jobs. The 85,000-square-foot facility will make diesel delivery trucks.
