Learn from the Experts. This workshop is a unique partnership between Toyota Material Handling and Leonardo Group Americas. The methods presented in the workshop reflect the best material handling practices known today and the actual methods in operation on the Toyota factory floor, at the 2010 Plant of the Year. The future of manufacturing belongs to multi-product manufacturing, and an important aspect of this strategy is the optimization of material delivery. Kanban, the method of choice, includes many different techniques, each appropriate for unique conditions.

The focus of this workshop is to present all of the main Kanban methods, and them apply them immediately in a simulation environment.

Understanding will also be confirmed through a daily plant tour at Toyota, where the methods can be viewed live.

Physical Implementation.

Students learn best by doing, and this Lean Materials Workshop will include the actual implementation of all of the Kanban tools in a simulation environment. Participants will design the material delivery system, including Kanban supermarkets and workstation design, and then bring the material delivery system live.

Lunchtime Q&A.

Managers and engineers from Toyota and Leonardo Group Americas will host a lunchtime Q&A session on the workshop topics, to take further advantage of the time available.

Toyota Plant Tours (2).

This program includes a tour of the Toyota Material Handling plant, with a special focus on the material management system in place at this leading factory. The topics discussed in the workshop will be confirmed by a visit to the shop floor, to see these tools in action.
