The project pools the resources of the three companies in a method called "cross functional team participation." Each partner will take the lead in a specific area for the plant planning and implementation, including plant layout, production processes and workforce strategy.
It is expected that within 5 years, the plant will have created about 400 jobs. "Upon completion of the plant, we will begin producing world-class engines in a truly innovative manufacturing environment. This operation will clearly take advantage of the strengths of each alliance partner," says Dieter Zetsche, Chrysler group president and CEO.
