The site was started in January by Interconnect Devices Inc. (IDI), a manufacturer of test probes. "We are frequently asked to recommend fixture houses," says Ed Shifman, IDI's CEO. "There's very little information about fixtures on the Web. The fixture business is so fragmented that it's difficult to identify other resources that can meet one's needs."

Through the site, fixture specifiers can submit requests for quotes to 37 fixture manufacturers. The site describes the capabilities of each vendor, and customers are invited to post feedback about the vendor on the site.

Fixture houses listed on the site agree to use IDI probes in any test fixture that is initiated through it.
