The U.S. machine vision and imaging industry had a strong 2005 and will likely experience continued growth in 2006.
According to the recent study Machine Visions Markets-2005 Results and Forecasts to 2010, in 2005 smart cameras, in particular, enjoyed a 19.1 percent increase in units sold and a 14.4 percent jump in revenue. The study, which was conducted by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA, Ann Arbor, MI), also found that sales of application-specific machine vision systems increased 13.6 percent.
