SOMERSET, NJ –Permabond is excited to announce the launch of new cyanoacrylate adhesives that are soft and flexible, providing high elongation, impact resistance, and adhesion to a wide range of substrates while maintaining the set speed of standard cyanoacrylates. The flexibility and elongation make Permabond Flexible Cyanoacrylates ideal for: • Bonding a variety of substrates • Bonding dissimilar surfaces • Bonding soft, porous, and flexible substrates • Tamper-proofing • Sealing • Threadlocking plastic fasteners These products range in Shore Hardness from A60 to D50, with elongation from 65% to 400%. Viscosity ranges from 2 cPs to thixotropic gel. The image shows Permabond 743 being stretched on an Instron to four times its’ original length. “In this case, the image is worth a thousand words. For decades the industry has promoted cyanoacrylates that were toughened as flexible. Toughened cyanoacrylates are much more resilient and not as brittle as standard cyanoacrylates. So in comparison, the word flexible worked. These new, modified ethyl cyanoacrylates are a completely separate class of adhesives which demonstrate very high elongation and extreme flexibility.” Manny Dias, Technical Manager, Permabond. Permabond cyanoacrylate adhesives are one-part adhesives that cure by reacting with minute traces of moisture on the surface of the material being bonded. Permabond cyanoacrylates cure in seconds at ambient temperatures and have been formulated to bond flexible or rigid surfaces made from a wide range of plastics, rubbers or metals.
