MIAMISBURG, OH—Allite Inc., a materials supplier specializing in lightweight products, has partnered with Weis Manufacturing to codevelop the first racing bicycle frame made entirely from the magnesium. The Brooklyn, NY-based bike manufacturer will use Allite’s Super Magnesium tubes to create a lighter version of its popular Weis Hammer Track bike.
“Weighing 30 percent less than aluminum, while also being stiffer and stronger, pound for pound, Super Magnesium is the lightest of all structural materials,” claims Morten Kristiansen, vice president of products and marketing at Allite. “The revolutionary new alloy, which has been utilized in classified defense and aerospace applications, can also be leveraged in a variety of applications, products and components within the cycling industry and beyond.
