HENRIETTA, NY—Gorbel Inc., a manufacturer of cranes, ergonomic lifting equipment and fall protection equipment, is expanding its manufacturing operations to a new facility here.
Gorbel has manufacturing locations in New York, Alabama, Arizona and China, plus a sales office in Michigan. Expanding to Henrietta will increase the company’s manufacturing capability within New York and add roughly 60 new jobs to the area by the end of 2020. The company is looking to hire welders, mechanical assemblers, electrical technicians, quality technicians, and other general production support workers.
“Our expansion into Henrietta demonstrates Gorbel’s commitment to growing manufacturing jobs in the region,” says Tyler Brown, vice president of operations at Gorbel.
“I was very happy to learn that Gorbel will be moving into [a vacant manufacturing facility in Henrietta], and more importantly, adding 60 new, high-quality manufacturing jobs…with the possibility of more in the future,” says Stephen L. Schultz, Henrietta town supervisor. “The town has been working with developers…to try to encourage reuse of existing facilities so it is great to see this opportunity come to fruition. Gorbel’s success and upward trajectory will have a strong positive benefit to…the greater community as a whole.”
Gorbel was founded in 1977 by David Reh, a graduate Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. In 1990, Gorbel outgrew a small location in Fairport, NY, and moved to its current headquarters in Victor, NY, outside of Rochester. Brian Reh, David Reh’s son, took over the company as president in 2004, and president and CEO in 2010. In 2019, Brian Reh transitioned into the role of CEO, and David Pritchard became the president and COO.
