Balluff’s BTL LDPS delivers continuous position sensing up to 1.5 km — that’s nearly a mile! — with a repeatability of 0.5 mm. This makes it ideal for applications on overhead cranes, avoidance controls and crane movement.

The system consists of a magnetostrictive sensor with a Profinet interface, several magnets, and a software function block for incorporating it into a Siemens controller.
