Waste, in lean terms, is any activity that does not add value to the product while costing a manufacturer money and resources. From active losses to missed opportunities, these wastes are so common in manufacturing operations that they are often overlooked.

To aid in continuous improvement, the late Taiichi Ohno, chief engineer at Toyota and the architect of the Toyota Production System (TPS), classified these wastes into seven broad types. His seven wastes are transportation, inventory, motion, waiting, overproduction, overprocessing and defects. An eighth waste of underutilizing the talent or skills of workers was introduced in the 1990s when the Toyota Production System was adopted in the Western world.

Workstations and other ergonomic equipment can play a key role in eliminating these wastes. Whether you’re looking for a height-adjustable workbench or a custom flow-rack, you’ll find it at The ASSEMBLY Show. At least 13 suppliers will be demonstrating their latest ergonomic products at the show.

You will learn:
  • The seven wastes and how to alleviate them.
  • How to specify workstations and ergonomic products to match the exact needs of your assembly line.
  • Tips and advice for implementing 5S.
  • How to assess an assembly plant for ergonomic improvements.
  • How to justify the cost of organizational and ergonomic investments.
Become an informed consumer! Before you hit the show floor, tune into this exclusive panel discussion featuring executives from four of the nation’s top suppliers of ergonomic products: Pro-Line, Rhino Tool House, Flex Craft and UNEX.

This event is the third in a three-part webinar series leading up to The Assembly Show from October 21-23 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Click here for more details.
