NATICK, MA--U.S. sales of monitor arms, keyboard drawers and other nonelectronic computer accessories will exceed $1.2 billion in 2004.

According to a study by Venture Development Corp., sales of the accessories will grow by 12.1 percent annually through 2004. Consumers spent $752.9 million on the products in 2000.

Sales of computer security devices will increase the fastest during the next 4 years, growing at a rate of 22.5 percent annually. Notebook computers, which are highly susceptible to theft, are increasing as a percentage of all computers sold. As company workforces become more mobile, investments in security devices are seen as necessary expenditures to protect computers--and the data the contain--in the field.
