RADFORD, VA—Kollmorgen, a manufacturer of motion control products and systems, has been awarded a follow-on development contract by Otis Elevator Co. (Farmington, CT), which will extend the market and product range for Otis¿ Gen2 elevator cable.

This cable enables the use of a Kollmorgen machine that includes a brake, sheave and permanent magnetic motor. This machine can be installed in the hoistway, eliminating the need for a machine room.
