MINNEAPOLIS--Stratasys Inc. and Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd. (Tokyo) are developing a rapid prototyping process capable of making production-ready parts for disposable cameras.

The two companies are trying to refine the fused deposition modeling process so it can produce finely detailed, ready-to-use camera components made of ABS plastic. "ABS is important to us because it is very durable, and it can be functionally tested. It is the material from which many of our products are constructed," says Yasunori Tanaka, Fuji's divisional manager.
