Blue Origin to Expand Rocket Manufacturing Facility at Kennedy Space Center

MERRITT ISLAND, FL—A little more than a year after opening its massive rocket manufacturing center at Kennedy Space Center, Blue Origin LLC has plans to expand it by 90 acres to support its commercial space vehicles that will launch sometime in the 2020s.
Filed with the state of Florida last month, the plans are labeled as South Campus Expansion Phase 1. Documents show that it will include 30.52 acres for phase 1 improvements, 11.15 acres for a pond and more than 45 acres for future facilities.
At Blue Origin's $205-million, 750,000-square-foot rocket manufacturing complex, the company is building its 270-foot-tall, two-stage New Glenn rocket. The rocket work is creating 330 jobs with an average annual salary of $90,000.
