HARTFORD, CT—Cyber threats can shut down assembly lines and entire factories. Both large and small companies are at risk, according to the 2023 Travelers Risk Index, which claims that 25 percent of manufacturers have been the victim of a data breach or cyber event.
Despite the risk, cyber threats did not rank as a top-five concern for manufacturers, with only 56 percent of respondents reporting that they worry a great deal or some about these risks. Instead, top business concerns for manufacturers include broad economic uncertainty (68 percent), supply chain risks (68 percent) and medical cost inflation (59 percent).
