Samsung Plans $10 Billion Semiconductor-Fabrication Facility in Texas

AUSTIN, TX—Samsung is planning to build a $10 billion semiconductor-fabrication facility alongside its existing facility here, with the first wafers set to be produced in 2023.
Building construction will start this year, with manufacturing equipment to be installed in 2022 and the first semiconductor wafers to be run the year after that. All wafers are to be processed utilizing the 3-nanometer technology node.
Samsung bought the land for the facility last year and applied to the local authority for planning permission.
The plan involves financial help from the Biden administration that is said to be currently under negotiation.
