NORWALK, CT--Attendees to the Assembly West Expo and Conference, to be held Nov. 14 to 15, 2001, at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA, can tour the Boeing factory where the U.S. Air Force's Airlifter cargo jet is assembled.

Boeing's C-17 plant covers over 1.1 million square feet. Attendees will see how the fuselage and wing sections are joined together using laser tooling. They will also walk inside the wing half-join tool to see how the wing sections fit together before they are joined to the main fuse-lage. At the final stop, attendees will walk up the cargo ramp of a finished C-17. While there, the aircraft's cargo loading and off-loading capabilities will be demonstrated.
