KANSAS CITY, KS—General Motors is investing $55 million to build an 830,000-square-foot “logistics optimization center” adjacent to its Fairfax assembly plant here. The operation is expected to employ approximately 500 workers.
HUTCHINSON, KS—The Siemens wind turbine nacelle assembly plant here expects to resume full operations within the next week. The company had furloughed about 60 workers last week because some of the parts needed to make wind turbines were delayed at docks along the West Coast.
LIBERTY, KS—LMV Automotive is expanding its new parts manufacturing operation with a $48.7 million addition that will increase its workforce by 166 employees.
ELWOOD, KS—Pro-Dig LLC, which makes industrial drilling equipment, is closing its manufacturing operation in China and building a $5 million assembly plant here.
SHAWNEE, KS—E.C. Manufacturing, a manufacturer of small, advanced electrical components, is building a new, $6 million assembly plant here. The facility is expected to create 252 new jobs over the next three years.
KANSAS CITY, KS—GM will invest $600 million to upgrade its assembly plant here. Construction on a new 450,000-square-foot paint shop, a stamping press and efficiency enhancements at the plant will begin this year.
