STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Electrolux AB, the Swedish maker of Frigidaire appliances, has announced that it will incur a bigger-than-expected financial hit from merging fridge and freezer factories in the U.S. amid delivery disruptions.
ANDERSON, SC—Electrolux, which is in the process of expanding its refrigerator assembly plant here, has applied for an exemption to the tariffs being imposed on products from China.
For the last 100 years, dryers, ovens, refrigerators, washing machines and other household appliances have performed the same basic functions, such as keeping food hot or cold and getting clothes wet and dry. But, a new breed of “smart” appliances is emerging, thanks to advanced sensor technology and the Internet of Things (IoT).
MEMPHIS, TN—One of the largest economic development prizes for Memphis since the Great Recession, an Electrolux appliance assembly plant, has exceeded goals for jobs and investment that accompanied a tax break approved in 2011.
ANDERSON, SC—Electrolux is investing $30 million in its assembly plant here, which produces top-mount refrigerators as well as under-the-counter models. This investment is in addition to a prior $30 million investment the company made recently in the facility, which added an R&D center and other improvements.
MEMPHIS, TN—The Workforce Investment Network has begun training individuals interested in working at the new Electrolux assembly plant here. At full production, the facility will employ more than 1,200.
