CLIFTON PARK, NY—Fuel-cell manufacturer Plug Power recently cut the ribbon on its new production facility here. The company says it is anticipating increased demand for its high-tech products, which combine hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity, with water and heat as the byproducts.
ROCHESTER, NY—General Electric has decided to keep 90 manufacturing jobs at its assembly plant here. The conglomerate had been planning to shift those jobs to China by June 2018.
BUFFALO—SolarCity is moving into its new factory here. Approximately 20 percent of the factory’s equipment has been delivered, and the factory plans to start making solar panels by next summer.

The state is investing $750 million in the project, while SolarCity is investing $5 billion to create a production facility at a former brownfield site where Republic Steel used to operate. The investment will create 5,000 jobs in New York State, 3,000 of which will permanently remain in Buffalo.
