LANCASTER, CA—Construction has begun on a solar energy project at BYD’s Coach & Bus assembly plant here. When fully operational, the project is expected to save the factory more than $100,000 per year in electricity costs.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia—GreenPower Motor Co. Inc., a designer, manufacturer, and distributer of all-electric buses, has announced it achieved a revenue of $6.1 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019, an increase of 73 percent over the previous year, and the largest in the company’s history.
MORRISTOWN, TN—A Belgian company that makes buses and industrial vehicles will invest $47 million to build its first assembly plant here, a move expected to create nearly 640 jobs in five years.
LANCASTER, CA--Electric vehicle manufacturer BYD announced this week another expansion to its electric bus and battery module factory here. The expansion will add 100,000 square feet to the facility when it comes online at the end of June. It will be used to store parts and components for BYD’s products, freeing up manufacturing space and allowing for better use of the space in its primary manufacturing building.
Although being part of an international conglomerate has its advantages (such as extensive financial resources and access to cutting-edge technologies), a company still must make good products to establish and expand its customer base. This statement definitely applies to Canadian bus manufacturer Nova Bus Inc., which began in 1993 and has been part of Volvo Bus Corp.—the world’s largest motorcoach and transit bus manufacturer—since 1998.
LANCASTER, CA—The first electric buses have rolled out of BYD Motors’ assembly plant here. The factory, which has about 60 employees, hopes to increase its workforce and have the capacity to produce 1,000 buses a year within two decades.
