Energy Department Invests $100 Million EV Battery Start-up

December 29, 2022

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded Sila Nanotechnologies $100 million to support the company’s new factory in Moses Lake, WA, and help Sila hire and train some 300 workers for the facility. It’s one of 21 projects that the DOE has funded to support domestic battery materials processing and manufacturing.

WEIRTON, WV—Form Energy Inc., a start-up dedicated to developing long-lasting batteries for electric utilities, will build its first assembly plant here. The factory is expected to create at least 750 jobs and will represent a total investment of up to $760 million.
