Two recipients of the Assembly Plant of the Year award (Ford and Kenworth) are using state-of-the-art tools and technology to produce electric vehicles.

Kenworth Truck Co. recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. The company has been a pillar of manufacturing activity in the Seattle area since 1923, operating out of a series of four different local factories, including its current flagship plant in Renton.

Here’s a brief look at the diverse facilities that have received the Assembly Plant of the Year award.

CHILLICOTHE, OH--The Kenworth plant here is getting a $17 million automated storage facility to bring cab parts inside, out of the weather, and add efficiency to assembly operations, executives said yesterday. They also foresee another healthy sales year for Class 8 trucks.
