WEST POINT, GA—The Georgia Department of Labor has begun the process of filling 190 jobs at automotive seat manufacturer Hyundai Dymos over the next few months.
POOLER, GA—A company that manufactures custom aircraft interiors is planning to build a new, $15 million assembly plant here. Savannah Aviation Parts and Services expects to create some 200 new jobs in the next five years.
ATHENS, GA—Caterpillar opened a sprawling new assembly plant here that will make “small-track” bulldozers and mini hydraulic excavators. So far, approximately 300 of a promised 1,400 workers have been hired.
ATHENS, GA—Caterpillar expects to have the assembly line at its new factory here rolling by Nov. 1, according to a company engineer. The plant is expected to turn out 20 tractors and 50 to 60 excavators per day. It could employ up to 1,400 people at the plant by 2018.
CARROLLTON, GA—Yachiyo of America Inc., a manufacturer of plastic fuel tanks and sunroofs, will invest $30 million to open an assembly plant here. The company plans to create more than 200 jobs during the next three years.
WEST POINT, GA—Hyundai Dymos is opening a $35 million assembly plant here to supply parts for the nearby Kia Motors assembly plant. The new facility will create 350 jobs.
WASHINGTON—Indiana added 4,300 manufacturing jobs in June, the most of any state. Rounding out the top five states for creating manufacturing jobs are California, Georgia, Wisconsin and Texas.
SOCIAL CIRCLE, GA—The Goodyear tire factory here was raided early Wednesday morning by local law enforcement in search of possible drug activity and illegal immigrants working at the facility.
