VANCE, AL—Automotive seating manufacturer Lear Corp. has begun construction of a $19.5 million assembly plant here.

CHATTANOOGA, TN—Volkswagen plans to hire 800 more workers at its assembly plant here by year’s end, boosting the workforce to 3,500.

DUBLIN, GA—Dinex Group, a manufacturer of automotive emissions control and exhaust systems , will create 250 jobs and invest $15 million to build a new assembly plant here.

DETROIT—About 1,700 Ford factory workers have decided to take early retirement offers and will leave the company by June 1. The automaker will bring back about 250 laid-off employees and hire some replacements at lower wages.

DURHAM, NC—AW North Carolina, which assembles automatic transmissions for Toyota, is planning to increase production at its plant here. The company plans to add up to 250 new jobs and $14 million in new equipment.

CHATTANOOGA, TN—VW will invest $40 million to build a 400,000-square-foot warehouse in Roane County, TN, to distribute auto parts. The facility will employ up to 45 people by 2016.
