JACKSONVILLE, FL—Aveo Engineering, which makes LED lighting for aircraft, is investing $7.5 million to build a new assembly plant in Flagler County, FL. The plant is expected to employ 300 people.
CHICAGO—Manufacturing output in the Midwest rose 3.5 percent in June from a year earlier, according to the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. In comparison, manufacturing output nationwide increased 2.1 percent.
HUDSON, OH—Toy maker Little Tikes Co. attributes its growth in recent years in large part to the company’s decision to make more of its toys in Northeast Ohio plant instead of overseas.
CANTON, MS—Nissan will build a 1 million-square-foot campus for its suppliers just north of the its assembly plant here. The facility could create 800 to 1,000 jobs.
WASHINGTON—Indiana added 4,300 manufacturing jobs in June, the most of any state. Rounding out the top five states for creating manufacturing jobs are California, Georgia, Wisconsin and Texas.
BRIGHTON, MI—Promess Inc. has opened a new process development and training center at its recently expanded headquarters facility here. Available to customers at minimal or no cost, the center is equipped to support process development, part testing and technology application studies.
NEW DELHI—GM has fired several employees after violations of company policy led to the recall of 114,000 of its Chevrolet Tavera sport-utility vehicles in India.
