SWAN ISLAND, OR—Union workers at Daimler’s truck assembly plant here have gone on strike after rejecting a $1.30 per hour pay raise. The union had been seeking a $1.95 increase.

HIGH POINT, NC—U.S. furniture factory orders in April were 11 percent higher from the same month a year ago. The April results brought the year-to-date order increase to 3 percent.
