CHICAGO—Boeing is actively encouraging its suppliers to outsource work to Mexico. Patrick McKenna, director of supply chain strategy and supplier management at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, has urged suppliers to attend a Nov. 15 workshop in Chicago to learn how to do business in Mexico.

CHARLOTTE, NC—Material handling equipment orders are forecasted to grow 8 percent to 9 percent in 2012 and 6 percent in 2013, according to the Material Handling Industry of America.
WASHINGTON—The number of first-time claims for unemployment insurance fell by 23,000 last week from the week before, and orders for durable goods rose 9.9 percent in September from August—the biggest monthly increase in nearly three years.
