BMW Considers Wind Power for South Carolina Plant

March 5, 2009
BMW Manufacturing Co. is considering another green source of energy for its plant. The Greer plant, which gets well over half of the energy needed to generate electricity from methane gas at a landfill nine miles away, is partnering with Gold Ring Power LLC to study using wind energy at its campus off Interstate 85 and State 101. An energy audit will gather data on wind speed and patterns at the plant site. MORE

Indiana County Demands Chrysler Return Funding

TIPTON, IN-A central Indiana county is demanding that Chrysler return $5.5 million in county-issued bonds and repay at least $4.5 million it set aside for a sprawling transmission plant that a Chrysler supplier stopped building last year. Chrysler is refusing to repay the bonds and money the county had approved for the $530 million Getrag Transmission Manufacturing plant. MORE
