battle to bring the thousands of jobs to England’s industrial northeast is being led by
Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who has held talks with Siemens managers eager to

DETROIT-GM has decided to speed up payments to its parts suppliers to help ease their cash flow problems and ultimately improve relations with the companies. Relations between GM and its suppliers have been strained since 1990s, when it continually demanded cost cuts. As a result, suppliers offered new technology first to other automakers that paid better and more frequently, putting GM behind. MORE
BAY MINETTE, AL-Chinese company Hybrid Kinetic Motors plans to construct a new green vehicle manufacturing plant here, bringing 5,000 jobs to the state. Initial production is expected to begin in 2013, with the first phase of 300,000 vehicles. MORE

to build a small business jet as well as a small piston airplane to complements

another shift at its plant in South Carolina, the first sign of a turnaround following

POOLER, GA-Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas Inc. will locate a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility here, ultimately creating 500 jobs and investing $325 million. MORE
DETROIT-General Motors Co. will go to 24-hour operations at factories in Kansas, Michigan and Indiana to handle an expected increase in demand and to make up for production lost from a large-scale factory consolidation announced earlier in the year. The automaker says it will add a third shift at its Fairfax plant in Kansas City, KS, in January. That will be followed in March or April by third shifts at factories in Delta Township, MI, and Fort Wayne, IN. MORE
