Hiring, Growth Shoot up at Weapons Plant

DAYTONA BEACH, FL-Double-digit sales increases have triggered a growth spurt at AO Precision Manufacturing's plant on Mason Avenue.

About 15 employees were added recently, bringing the work force up to 140 for the maker of components for weapons used by the military and civilians. A 6,000-square-foot addition to the 38,000-square-foot plant is being brought online in the near future. And AO, known until early last year as Advanced Ordnance, posted $25 million in sales this year, said Bob Short, the company's operations manager. MORE

Assembler of Drilling Equipment Gets 50 Percent Tax Abatement for 10 Years

WOOSTER, OH-Commissioners have granted a 50 percent tax abatement to Collier Well Equipment & Supply, which has announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility by 20,000 square feet and create a dozen new jobs.

Collier Well, located south of Wooster along state Route 3, will invest more than $1.6 million in construction and improvements to its facilities and add new equipment. The dozen jobs to be created will carry an average pay of more than $37,000 per year. MORE

LAS CRUCES, NM-A Taiwanese electronics manufacturing plant just south of the Mexican border could be a major catalyst for economic growth in southern New Mexico, state officials say.

Construction began this past week in San Jeronimo on the first phase of the sprawling complex, that, when completed in three to four years, will employ 20,000 people. MORE

CHATTANOOGA, TN-Volkswagen AG is ready to start hiring for its new Chattanooga assembly plant, starting with about 50 jobs related to purchasing and the start of construction.
