Tariff Uncertainty Is Delaying Equipment Investment, AED Says

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. — Ongoing tariff uncertainty between the United States and Canada is continuing to affect manufacturing-related investment, equipment purchasing and supply-chain planning across North America, according to Associated Equipment Distributors (AED).
During an advocacy event at Queen’s Park in Toronto, AED representatives urged Ontario officials to support continued free and fair trade with the United States and oppose additional tariffs or trade restrictions affecting cross-border commerce. The association said trade uncertainty is already affecting purchasing decisions, financing conditions and willingness to commit to major equipment investments.
AED members also warned that tariffs and retaliatory trade measures could further disrupt jobs, supply chains and project timelines tied to manufacturing and industrial activity throughout the region.
AED called on Ontario officials to oppose new tariffs, avoid retaliatory escalation, increase infrastructure and agricultural investment, and maintain direct trade relationships with U.S. partners.
