Assembly Lines: China Orders Cessna Trainers
WICHITA, KS-The Civil Aviation Flying University of China (CAFUC, Shanghai) has purchased 42 Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft for use as flight trainers. Delivery of the 42 planes is scheduled to begin the first quarter of 2006.
The order establishes Cessna aircraft as China's predominent training platform, more than tripling the size of Cessna's single-engine piston fleet in the country. CAFUC currently trains approximately 600 students each year. With its new aircraft, the school hopes to increase that number to over 1,000 students annually.
To date, Cessna has built more than 40,000 model 172 aircraft. Worldwide, more pilots have learned to fly in a Cessna than any other plane.
