NAPLES, FL--North American conveyor manufacturers sold a record $7.3 billion in equipment during 2000--a 14 percent increase compared with 1999 sales.

According of the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA), sales of unit-handling conveyors increased by 15 percent, while sales of bulk-handling conveyors increased by 5 percent. Sales increased in six out of CEMA's seven categories of unit-handling conveyors: light- and medium-duty conveyors, heavy-duty conveyors, trolley conveyors, tow conveyors, conveyor components and conveyor chain.
