FCA, Unifor Reach Deal to End Blockade of Assembly Plant

WINDSOR, ON—A blockade at the delivery gate of FCA’s Windsor Assembly Plant has been removed after the company and Unifor Local 444 reached a temporary agreement on Jan. 10.
FCA Canada accepted a Unifor proposal to bring back 40 Auto Warehouse Co. workers, who are Local 444 members, on an interim basis.
The blockade had been in place since Jan. 5 as part of a labor dispute between Local 444 and Motipark, which recently beat out Auto Warehouse for the contract to take over the work of driving new minivans off the assembly line. However, Motipark’s workforce is represented by the Teamsters union instead of Unifor. As a result, 60 Unifor members lost their jobs.
