Ford Idles Louisville Assembly Plant for Second Straight Week

LOUISVILLE, KY—More than 3,000 workers at Ford Motor Co.’s Louisville Assembly Plant will be jobless for the second consecutive week.
Ford is canceling production at the plant, known for producing the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair, for the week of Feb. 20. Work is set to resume Feb. 27.
The plant originally halted work from Feb.13-19 due to a software issue with the Ford Escape, which is causing the instrument panel to be turned off while being driven.
“We are committed to ensuring our vehicles are built with the quality our customers deserve and will take the appropriate actions to deliver this commitment,” says Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker.
Production and skilled trades workers will be idle, while other groups are still scheduled to work. The factory employs approximately 4,100 people.Looking for quick answers on assembly and manufacturing topics? Try Ask ASM, our new smart AI search tool. Ask ASM
