AUGSBURG, Germany—Kuka has introduced a new, higher-payload model to its line of SCARA robots.
The KR 20 can carry a maximum payload of 20 kilograms and is available with a maximum reach of 800, 1,000 and 1,200 millimeters. These four-axis robots are available in standard and clean-room configurations. Positional repeatability is ±0.02 millimeter. The robots are protected against electrostatic discharge, and they carry an IP54 protection rating against dust and liquid. The robots comply with the EU’s CE certification regulations for quality and safety.
The high-precision planetary gear of the KR 20’s A1 axis increases rigidity and enables more stable operation. This is particularly valuable in applications that require high accuracy. Because of the cable connector plate on top of the A2 axis, installation time and complexity is reduced.
Existing models in theSCARA robotline are available for payloads of 6, 12 and 13 kilograms. A SCARA with a maximum payload capacity of 60 kilograms is expected to be released soon.
