MONTGOMERY, AL—Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) commemorated two decades of automotive production on May 3, 2025. HMMA’s official 20th production anniversary was on May 20, 2025, two decades after the plant’s grand opening.
Since producing its first vehicle—the 2006 Hyundai Sonata—HMMA has built 6.27 million vehicles for the North American market and expects to produce 358,000 vehicles in 2025. Current models produced at the Montgomery facility include the Hyundai Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, Tucson, and Santa Cruz, along with the Genesis GV70 and Electrified GV70. The plant’s flexibility enables the production of sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, hybrids, and EVs, all on the same assembly line.
Hyundai’s continued investment in the Alabama facility has exceeded $3 billion over the last 20 years, funding new technologies, model launches, and facility expansions.
Starting with a workforce of 2,000, HMMA now employs approximately 4,200 team members. When factoring in its supplier network, Hyundai’s presence in Alabama supports over 40,000 direct and indirect jobs statewide.
