MORROW, GA—Toto Group, a leading manufacturer of plumbing fixtures, has opened a state-of-the-art factory here to mass-produce luxury toilets. The $224 million facility is equipped with AGVs, robots and other automation that will enable the company to increase production capacity by 150 percent.
The factory replaces an older Toto plant in Morrow that opened in 1996. The new 363,393-square-foot facility can build up to 300,000 toilets annually.
“This is more than a factory opening—it’s the next chapter in our U.S. manufacturing story,” says Taro Muroi, CEO of Toto USA. “This expansion cements our leadership in luxury bathroom innovation while creating a more agile, resilient manufacturing network.
“It builds on our strong market momentum, allowing us to serve customers better, support employees with safer, more efficient technology and contribute meaningfully to the sustainability of our planet—all while honoring the deep bonds we’ve built through decades of trust, collaboration and shared purpose with the people and communities throughout the Americas,” explains Muroi.
According to Muroi, luxury one-piece toilets are a strategic product for the Americas market. Previously sourced primarily from Toto plants in Malaysia, Thailand other parts of Southeast Asia, they often faced extended lead times. Localized production now ensures timely delivery and strengthens local supply chains.
“The new Morrow facility showcases next-generation manufacturing technology designed to advance quality, precision and operational efficiency,“ claims Muroi.
A tank bonding robot—a first for any Toto plant—precisely positions and bonds tanks to bowls for one-piece toilets, boosting quality and productivity. More than 30 other robots streamline processes from molding to finishing. A fleet to AGVs can carry three toilets each between molding, drying, glazing and firing to enhance efficiency and reduce worker strain.
In addition to toilets, Toto produces bathtubs, bidets, faucets, sinks and other types of high-end bathroom plumbing fixtures.
