Cyberattack Halts Production at Jaguar's Halewood Plant

MERSEYSIDE, England—Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has temporarily suspended production at its Halewood plant in Merseyside, near Liverpool, and shut down its global IT infrastructure in response to a cybersecurity incident first reported on September 1.
The company confirmed it took immediate action by proactively shutting down systems to contain the breach, which has caused significant disruption to manufacturing and retail operations. Employees at Halewood were instructed not to report for shifts, and production remains suspended as technical teams work to restore systems.
JLR emphasized that there is currently no evidence of customer data being compromised and assured stakeholders that recovery efforts are underway. “We are now working at pace to restart our global applications in a controlled manner,” the company stated.
The shutdown highlights the growing vulnerability of the automotive industry to digital threats. The timeline for full recovery has not yet been determined, but JLR is continuing its investigation while prioritizing the safe restoration of operations.
