Updated A3 Standard Sets Benchmark for Industrial Robot Safety

ANN ARBOR, MI—The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) has released ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025, the most significant update to U.S. industrial robot safety standards in over a decade. The revised standard, which adopts and updates ISO 10218, introduces clearer functional safety requirements, integrated collaborative robot guidance, new rules for end-effectors and manual operations, updated robot classifications, and cybersecurity considerations. It also refines terminology for greater technical accuracy.
Available now for purchase starting at $655, the standard includes Parts 1 and 2, with Part 3—covering user-specific requirements—expected later in 2025 and provided at no additional cost. A3 leaders emphasize that the standard enhances usability, compliance, and worker safety worldwide while supporting innovation in intelligent automation.
A3, the global advocate for automation with over 1,400 members, will also host several upcoming industry events, including the International Robot Safety Conference (Nov. 3–5, 2025, Houston, TX) and Automate 2026 (June 22–25, Chicago, IL).
