CHARLESTON, SC—JTEKT, a Japanese manufacturer of steering systems and driveline components, is investing $102 million to construct a new assembly plant in South Carolina.
TERRE HAUTE, IN—ThyssenKrupp Presta is spending $22 million to expand its assembly plant here. The manufacturer of automotive steering systems expects to add 120 jobs by 2013.

LANSING, MI—GM will launch a second shift at its Lansing Grand River assembly plant late this summer. The new shift coincides with the introduction of the Cadillac ATS, a new compact luxury car.
ATLANTA—Germany-based Ritz Instrument Transformers plans to expand the company’s product line with a $1 million dollar investment at its Hart County, Georgia, assembly plant. The expansion will create some 50 new jobs.
JACKSONVILLE, FL—Medtronic’s Surgical Technologies Div. broke ground on a $14 million, 75,000-square-foot, expansion of its assembly plant here. The medical device manufacturer plans to add 175 high-wage jobs.
