NEWBERRY, SC—Samsung will expand the production footprint of its assembly plant here, making progress on a plan to create nearly 1,000 jobs in the state by 2020.
NEWBERRY, SC—South Carolina and Samsung officials on Friday celebrated the first washing machines made at the company’s first U.S. appliance assembly plant. The event came less than seven months after officials announced plans to locate in Newberry, invest $380 million in a former Caterpillar factory and create 1,000 jobs by 2020.
FORT MILL, SC—Power tool manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker will invest $31 million to build a new assembly plant here. Expected to employ 500 people, the factory will assemble Dewalt cordless tools.
SPARTANBURG, SC—BMW plans to invest $600 million to expand production at its assembly plant here, adding 1,000 jobs to the workforce. The investment is part of a push to produce 450,000 vehicles annually at the plant.
FORT MILL, SC—Schaeffler Group USA Inc., a manufacturer of precision components for the industrial and automotive sectors, has opened its expanded assembly plant and new administrative building here. The project is expected to result in more than 100 jobs.
SPARTANBURG, SC—Automotive supplier Magna International will build a new, $29 million, 230,000-square-foot assembly plant here to make seats for BMW. Scheduled to open in June 2017, the facility is expected to employ 480 people in the next four years.
LADSON, SC—Aerospace supplier Safran is spending $7 million to expand its assembly plant here. The factory makes landing gear, brake systems and wire harnesses for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
