ANDREWS, SC—Aerospace supplier Davis Aircraft Products expects to hire 100 people to work at its new $5.5 million assembly plant here when it opens next spring.
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC—Boeing is looking for a site to build a second assembly plant in South Carolina within 20 miles of the company’s existing factory here.
WHITSETT, SC—Lenovo, the world’s second largest seller of PCs, officially opened a new assembly plant here today. The facility is adding 115 manufacturing jobs and is on track to be in full production by the end of June.
SPARTANBURG, SC—A.L. Solutions Inc., a manufacturer of automotive filters, will invest $3.6 million to locate a new assembly plant here. The facility is expected to create 80 new jobs.
ANDERSON COUNTY, SC—McLaughlin Body Co., which makes tractor cabs for Caterpillar and other OEMs, will build a $22 million assembly plant here. The facility is expected to employ 250 people.
SEATTLE—Boeing Co. will lay off approximately 800 Seattle-area machinists by the end of 2013 following completion of certain work on its 787 and 747-8 jumbo jets.
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC—TIGHITCO has opened a new, 100,000-square-foot assembly plant here to make wingtips for business jets. The facility is expected to employ 350 people.
