U.S. Manufacturing Output Eclipses Prerecession High

December 18, 2014

WASHINGTON—U.S. manufacturing output in November surpassed its pre-recession peak, as automotive production kicked into a higher gear. The Federal Reserve said that factory production rose 1.1 percent last month, up from a 0.4 percent improvement in October. Manufacturing output has risen 4.8 percent over the past 12 months. It’s now above the previous high set just before the downturn began in December 2007.

HEMET, CA—Forest River Inc., a recreational vehicle manufacturer, has purchased an old factory here for a new assembly plant. The factory will begin production in early 2015 and is expected to employ 200 to 300 people at full production.

VONORE, TN—Yamaha Jet Boat Manufacturing USA Inc. will invest $17.7 million to expand operations at its assembly plant here. The company also expects to create 150 new jobs at the factory.
