Factory Orders Rose in September

November 4, 2009
WASHINGTON-New factory orders in September rose 0.9 percent following an unrevised 0.8 percent decline in August, the Commerce Department reported. That’s slightly above the 0.8 percent rise economists were expecting. Orders have now risen in five of the last six months, but are down an unadjusted 21.7 percent over the year. MORE

Airbus to Construct UK Assembly Plant

November 3, 2009
BROUGHTON, U.K.-Airbus will invest more than €400 million here in the next 12 months as it prepares to start production of its latest aircraft, the A350XWB. The aerospace giant has started constructing a 46,000-square-meter factory at its site in Broughton, North Wales, which will build the A350’s wings and help to secure 10,500 jobs in Britain for the next decade. Kia to Hire Additional Workers for Georgia Plant

West Point, GA-Kia Motors says it will reopen the application process for production and maintenance jobs at its new assembly plant here. The South Korean automobile manufacturer has hired 1,200 employees for the plant, where full production of the Kia Sorento is expected to begin later this month.
