DETROIT-General Motors Co. will go to 24-hour operations at factories in Kansas, Michigan and Indiana to handle an expected increase in demand and to make up for production lost from a large-scale factory consolidation announced earlier in the year. The automaker says it will add a third shift at its Fairfax plant in Kansas City, KS, in January. FLINT, MI-GM will invest more than $21 million in its Flint Assembly Plant to produce the 2011 Chevrolet light-duty crew cab. The investment will include renovating the existing heavy-duty assembly process and new machinery and tooling for light-duty trucks. MORE
FORT LUPTON, CO-A Denmark-based manufacturing company will bring as many as 150 jobs to a new plant here that will make components for the wind-power industry. Officials from Bach Composite Industry announced plans to locate their first North American manufacturing plant in Fort Lupton. MORE
FREMONT, CA-Fremont city officials are saying very little about a Chinese company interested in taking over the automotive assembly plant here. The city has been scrambling to come up with options for the NUMMI plant, a 25-year joint venture of General Motors and Toyota that now faces imminent closure. MORE
