Alabama, Four Other States in Running for South Korean Assembly Plant

MOBILE, AL-A South Korean company says Alabama is one of five states it is considering for an electric vehicle manufacturing plant that will create 2,600 jobs over the next five years. CT&T Co. Assembler Killed in Accident at Submarine Factory

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI-A Rhode Island man was killed last week while working at the Electric Boat Corp. assembly plant here. North Kingstown police said the 31-year-old worker, who was not identified, had been using a transport device to move a section of steel outside. When it started raining, the steel had to be moved back inside. The machinery was not moving as the worker got out. But he became trapped between it and a large door that was being closed. MORE

Idaho Assembly Plant Gets Federal Grant

POCATELLO, ID-The Obama administration has offered more than $15 million to go towards a Pocatello assembly plant. Nordic Windpower of Pocatello will receive a multimillion dollar loan from the Department of Energy. The money will go toward scaling up its assembly plant in the Gate City and purchasing more equipment. MORE

SAN FRANCISCO, CA-Sunworks Solar LLC has been allocated 5 megawatts of low-cost hydropower to encourage the construction and operation of a $200 million solar panel manufacturing plant in western New York state. Construction of VW Plant Continues

CHATTANOOGA, TN-Construction of Volkswagen’s auto assembly plant moved ahead this week. Schneider Electrical Inc. (Palatine, IL) has won a $3.64 million contract for electrical work on the plant’s heating and cooling building. In addition, Gestamp Corp., a Tier One supplier, announced plans to build a $90 million plant nearby to supply VW with stamped parts and welded assemblies. MORE
